About

Underwood International College is Korea’s first English-language liberal arts college and global renowned as Yonsei University’ flagship international program. Its student body of 2,500 students from 66 countries is educated by 112 distinguished faculty of international and Korean scholars. The mission of UIC is to bring together a diverse group of students from all over the globe, providing them with an interdisciplinary education that emphasizes Creative & Critical Thinking, Global Leadership, and Democratic Citizenship.

Majors Offered

UIC spans over 16 majors under five divisions in three fields as follows.

  1. 1) Underwood Field
    • Underwood Division: Comparative Literature and Culture, Economics, International Studies, Political Science and International Relations, Life Science and Biotechnology
  2. 2) Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences Field
    • Asian Studies Division
    • Techno-Art Division: Information and Interaction Design, Creative Technology Management, Culture and Design Management
    • Integrated Social Sciences Division: Justice and Civil Leadership, Quantitative Risk Management, Science, Technology and Policy, Sustainable Development and Cooperation
  3. 3) Integrated Science and Engineering Field
    • Integrated Science and Engineering Division

Scholarships

Scholarships offered at Underwood International College are divided into three categories: Admissions, Merit-based, and Need-based. Other various scholarships not offered on a regular basis are announced to all eligible UIC students. For more information, you can go to the UIC website. 

Admissions Scholarship
Qualification: Newly-admitted international students to UIC
Types: full tuition for 4 years
How to apply:
International students applying for UIC will be automatically considered as scholarship candidates. Scholarship recipients are to be selected from admitted applicants according to their academic credentials. A scholarship offer letter will be enclosed in the admission packet and sent to the recipients individually. Scholarship recipients are required to maintain a certain level of GPA each semester to stay eligible for the scholarship in the following semester.

Merit-based Scholarship
Qualification: Currently-enrolled UIC students
Types: full, half, or one-third of the tuition per semester
How to apply:
All UIC students are automatically considered as scholarship candidates. Each semester’s scholarship standard may vary; For more information or applying scholarship, please check the announcement.

Need-based Scholarship
Qualification: Currently-enrolled UIC students
Types: full, half, or one-third of the tuition per semester
How to apply:
Freedom scholarship will be announced at the end of each semester for UIC students in need of financial aid. Applicants must submit an application form and required documents, which will be reviewed by the UIC office. If necessary, applicants will be called in for individual interviews with the scholarship committee.
