Scholarships of £6,000 for talented female applicants to Engineering & Applied Science courses.

The Women in Engineering Scholarship is designed to attract the brightest and best female students to study at Aston University. As well as a tuition fee discount of £6,000, this scholarship offers successful applicants a programme of mentoring and support throughout their course, along with networking opportunities with business and industry.

The School of Engineering & Applied Science at Aston is proud to have a number of women in senior leadership positions, such as our Executive Dean, Deputy Dean and also in the School Executive team. All successful recipients of this scholarship will receive one-to-one career mentoring by a member of the School’s senior team.

How much is this scholarship worth? 

Successful applicants will be awarded £6,000 to help with tuition fees. You will also receive a programme of mentoring and support throughout your course, along with networking opportunities with business and industry.  

Who can apply?

Female international students from any country (including the EU) can apply. This scholarship is available for students applying to all undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes within the School of Engineering & Applied Science. What type of student is likely to receive this scholarship?

Aston University welcomes students from all backgrounds. We take pride in our diverse student body who come not only from all over the world, but also from a wide range of social and educational backgrounds. This scholarship will be awarded to students who demonstrate their commitment to engineering, which could be demonstrated by academic achievement, work-experience, volunteering or extra-curricular projects and activities. Successful applicants will also demonstrate their enthusiasm, pride and ability to represent Aston University and share their experience with others.

How do I apply?

You will be asked to write a short supporting statement, which will be judged by a panel.  You can apply via My Aston Portal (MAP).

When is the deadline?

The deadline to apply for this scholarship is 19th July 2021.

If you are successful in being awarded this scholarship, we kindly ask that you accept your place and pay your deposit by 13th August 2021.

What happens next?

If your application is successful, you will be awarded £6,000 to help with tuition fees. We will also arrange a programme of mentoring and support throughout your course, along with networking opportunities with business and industry. Successful applicants are required to act as an ambassador for women in engineering at Aston University flexibly alongside their studies. Please read the full terms and conditions.

Can I apply for more than one scholarship?

You can only receive one scholarship but you are able to apply for multiple scholarships. If you are successful in being awarded multiple scholarships, the highest value scholarship will be awarded to you. Scholarships will automatically be credited to your student account in the form of a tuition fee reduction.
