Tender of scholarship for international students within the scholarship program ‚STIBET I 2023‘
of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD)

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) provides TU Chemnitz with financial means in order to support international students with scholarships in 2023. Eligible are undergraduate students (Diploma, Magister, and Bachelor) as well as graduate students (Master) and PhD-students. Applicants have to be enrolled at TU Chemnitz in order to obtain one of the degrees mentioned above (Exception: Contact Scholarship).
Monthly award: max. 500.00€ per month (possible deductions due to additional income)
Duration: up to 6 months
Start: approx. June 2023
Application deadline: 28 April 2023

Types of Scholarships:

(1) Completion Scholarships
Eligible are international students who have been demonstrating well-developed academic skills
during their studies; their theses are to be completed within 12 months. Moreover, Completion
Scholarships aim at supporting students who suffer financial hardship through no fault of their
own. Financial aid allows scholarship holders to focus on completing their theses.

(2) Scholarships for particularly engaged students
Eligible are international students who have been demonstrating well-developed academic skills
during their studies. Furthermore, they are particularly engaged in international affairs at TU
Chemnitz. This includes, for example, the professional and academic support of international students and doctoral candidates.

(3) Contact scholarships
Eligible are international students from partner universities of TU Chemnitz or from foreign universities which TU Chemnitz is planning co-operations with in order to strengthen international
partnerships.

Please note:
I. The Scholarship Commission of the International Office awards scholarship holders. Selection
criteria include the stated above; they are in line with the requirements detailed by the DAAD.
II. Eligible are only students enrolled at TU Chemnitz.
III. Scholarship holders must immediately inform the International Office about absences and
possible sources of additional income, e.g. other scholarships or wages/salary.
IV. Applicants have no legal claim to a scholarship. Scholarships may only be awarded under reservation of resourcing by the DAAD and are subject to approval of the International Office Scholarship Commission.
Applications include:

  1. Duly filled and signed application form, including a personal statement (outlining the application for a particular scholarship type)
  2. CV (tabular)
  3. Latest Transcript of Records , for PhD-students: copy of Masters Certificate
  4. Letter of reference of a lecturer at TU Chemnitz
  5. Current certificate of enrolment (for Contact Scholarships: a copy of the application for partial
    studies at TU Chemnitz, including the confirmation of a TU Chemnitz supervisor)
    Complete application documents have to be received by the International Office by 28 April 2023.
