Scotland’s Saltire Scholarships are offered for postgraduate Masters courses in science, technology, creative, healthcare and energy.

Background information

Scotland’s Saltire Scholarships is a programme of international scholarships offered by the Scottish Government in collaboration with Scottish universities. They are offered for any one year full time postgraduate Masters programme in the areas of:

  • science
  • technology
  • creative industries
  • healthcare and medical sciences
  • renewable and clean energy

This includes a wide range of subjects across all of Scotland’s universities and higher education institutions. For example, the creative industries sector would include subjects such as:

  • communications
  • broadcasting
  • film
  • animation
  • journalism
  • publishing

Scotland’s Saltire Scholarships (SSS) provide a great opportunity to live and study in Scotland. Our scholars are those who are ambitious and career focused. Our chosen scholars should also have varied interests outside their academic studies, and the drive to expand their academic experience and knowledge in Scotland.

Eligibility and availability

In order to be eligible to apply for a Saltire Scholarship, candidates must have a conditional or unconditional offer of a place at a Scottish university on an eligible postgraduate Masters level course.

How do I apply?

The deadline for applications for Saltire Scholarships for 2021/22 is Friday 28 May 2021. Applications must be submitted online via the Scotland is Now website.
