Memorial University International Entrance Scholarships in Canada

Memorial University offers its international students opportunities to receive scholarships and awards.  Once you have applied to Memorial University, you will automatically be considered for an entrance scholarship (if you meet the eligibility criteria).  That means, no additional application is necessary. Students successful in receiving a scholarship offer will be notified shortly after their acceptance to Memorial University has been confirmed.

International entrance scholarships are awarded for a students’ first year of study and are not normally renewable.  (Note: International transfer students will only be considered for an entrance scholarship if fewer than 31 credit hours are transferred).

The Memorial University of Newfoundland International Entrance Scholarship

Top applicants may be offered a scholarship valued at $4,400 as funding allows. They are available to applicants from both the St. John’s and Grenfell campuses.  These scholarships have been established by Memorial University of Newfoundland as part of an agreement by the Board of Regents, in May 2003, that a portion of the tuition fees for international undergraduate students would be set aside for International Scholarships.

To be considered for these scholarships, a student must be eligible to pay the full international undergraduate fee, must register for at least 9 credit hours in each of two semesters in their first academic year at Memorial University of Newfoundland, should normally have fewer than 31 credit hours of transfer credits and meet scholarship standing (comparable to that prescribed for Newfoundland and Labrador and Canadian applicants). These scholarships will be awarded by the Senate Committee on Undergraduate Scholarships, Bursaries and Awards on the basis of a recommendation from the Registrar or their designate.

IUGS Entrance Scholarship for Undergraduate Students

This scholarship has been made available by the university through a portion of funds from the St. John’s International undergraduate student tuition fees (IUGS). It will be awarded to new undergraduate international students on the St. John’s campus. The scholarship will be valued at either $12,000 or $6,000 and is not normally renewable.

To be considered for this scholarship, a student must be eligible to pay the full international undergraduate fees and meet scholarship standing (comparable to that prescribed for Newfoundland and Labrador and Canadian applicants). A student may not hold this scholarship in conjunction with another general International entrance scholarship of significant value. The scholarship will be administered by the Senate Committee on Undergraduate Scholarships, Bursaries and Awards based on the recommendation of the Registrar (or designate) and the Director of Internationalization Office (or designate).
