Mälardalen University scholarship programme for Master students 2023-24, Sweden

Deadline for applications: 1 February 2023

Every year Mälardalen University offers a limited number of scholarships to students applying for a Master’s programme with us as their first choice.

The scholarship will cover 100% of the tuition fee of the programme as long as you follow the normal study plan (minimum 22.5 credits/semester, minimum 45 credits/academic year). The scholarship does not cover living expenses. If your status from being a fee-paying student to a non-paying student is changed during the study period of the programme you will no longer be granted the scholarship.

First choice

Please note, if your application for scholarship is to be considered you must have applied for the programme at Mälardalen University your first choice and submitted supporting documentation within deadlines published on www.universityadmissions.se. In addition the application fee must have been paid in time.

The scholarship is aimed at especially qualified students coming from countries outside of EU/EEA/Switzerland and who are required to pay tuition fees. The scholarship is NOT open for students from the twelve countries with which Sweden has long-term development cooperation (Bangladesh, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mali, Mozambique, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia). Students from these countries should instead apply for the Swedish Institute Study Scholarship, www.studyinsweden.se

Step 1: Submit electronic application

National application portal

Application for courses and programmes offered at Mälardalen University is done through www.universityadmissions.se, the national application portal for all higher education in Sweden and where all programmes suitable for international students are listed. During the admission periods you can also find a button on each programme page called “Apply”.

Submitting an electronic application is very easy, just read the instructions and create an account and you’re all set.

Most of our programmes start once per year, in late August. The international application period opens in mid October the year before and the official deadline is in mid January.

EU/EEA citizens or those who already have or don’t need a residence permit for Sweden:
You can also apply in the national application period, also sometimes called the second application round, open between mid March and mid April. Please visit
www.antagning.seExternal link. (in Swedish)

Rank your selection

The order in which you put the programmes you want to apply for is key. You can change the order up until the application deadline.

Step 2: Submit your documents

After submitting your electronic application, the next step is to submit documentation to demonstrate your eligibility for the courses and programmes you’ve applied for.

All applicants need to document their previous studies. This means you need to provide documentation of your completed degree, and transcripts with courses and grades.

You also need to show you meet the English requirement. Some applicants meet the requirement based on previous studies, while others demonstrate their English ability by submitting English test results.

Please note: Mälardalen University does not require any documents like CV, motivation or recommendation letter, statement of purpose and such.
Why not? The answer is that we want to base our assessment of your eligibility on as objective grounds as possible.

Step 3: Make sure your application is complete

Now you’re almost done. Just double-check that you’ve ranked the choices properly and that you have submitted all required documents.

If you are a non-EU/EEA student you also need to pay an application fee in order for your application to be processed. Please note that this fee cannot be waived. It’s an administrative fee issued by the national organisation University Admissions.
