Got an opportunity to go on a one-semester exchange to Cambodia in 2017 under the EU-SHARE scholarship programme which is aimed to support higher education in ASEAN region by the European Union. That fully-funded scholarship offered me a chance to get out of my comfort zone because it was my first time going and studying abroad. I am an International Relations graduate from the University of Yangon, Myanmar and my host university in Cambodia is Royal University of Phnom Penh. Would be amazing if I get an opportunity to share my experience.

  5. Muhammad Adrian Fathan says:

    Hello there,
My name is Muhammad Adrian Fathan, I am 19 years old, and i just graduated High School this year.
I was selected for Students Exchange to Denmark during 2018 to 2019 under AFS-American Field Service Program, and had a chance to live with local hosting family, as well as went to local high school there. My school was Nyborg Gymnasium in Nuborg, Fyn, Denmark.
The experience i had was super amazing and life-changing as It has opened my eyes and my mind to the other world with its own differences in many good ways.
Not only that, it has also forged me to become more sociable, open minded and independent.
It has also made me much more determined to see the world more.
After my comeback to my own country, i also managed to share what I have learned there with my peers and school friends, creating youth community in my neighbourhood to share my experience, teaching english and a bit of Danish language and culture there.
At the moment I am still trying to find the best university to pursue my further study.
I want to be a Diplomat to showcase good things about my country to the world and contribute globally as a good world citizen.
I am so determined to again able nailing a scholarship, a fully funded one in particular as my family can not afford without scholarship or financial aids for me to study overseas especially now where Covid-19 global pandemic is still raging.
I have actually been admitted to one of the best university in the world which is University of Toronto in Canada, and I have received LoA from 3 different campuses within UofT.
However because it was not fully funded, sadly i could not proceed further.
It started when I was nominated by my school to participate in Lester B. Pearson scholarship program at U of Toronto on November 2019.
LBP is the 4 years fully funded scholarship and only recruited the best 38 students from all high schools in the world.
I was not chosen among those 38 students to receive fully funded scholarship but because the committe judged my application was exceptional, they offered me a seat in 3 campuses within UofT and tolde that I can have a chance to get other scholarships provided by university and have a part-time job in the campus once I came in to fund my study further.
But still to provide fund to send me there is very big issue to me and my family as the initial amount we have to come up with is still way too high for us to provide.
This is very sad fore especially to know that UofT is one of the best University in the world that by studying there will definitely unlock my full potential as a student and endless learner.
I am still trying to find sponsors who are willing to support funding my study. My family and I have tried to contact many parties/companies/intitutions/indi iduals for months now but no positive result so far.
But I not giving up yet as I believe if i am not destined to study at UofT, there will be another chance will come toe.
I guess this is one of the thing i have learned during my exchange that in life you win some and you loose some and you need to be patient because all good things will happen to those who never stops fighting and earn them.

    Sincerely Yours,
    M. Adrian Fathan from Indonesia

Btw, I am now studying in Budapest, Hungary at The Hungary Agriculture and Life-sciences University , at my 2nd year now taking Business Adm. Major.
I got fully-funded scholarship called Stipendium-Hungaricum from Hungary Government in 2021.
At the same year I was actually got scholarship from Ritsumeikan Asia-Pacific University in Japan, National University in Singapore, besides City U in HongKong.
I decided to choose Hungary in Europe because I think I have fallen in love to Europe since my exchange year in Denmark.
After finishing my undergraduate I plan to pursue further degree in Europe or America by applying another scholarship as well.
Please wish me the best of luck!
I really want to share my story and my experience to my peers all over the world, especially within ASEAN Countries and my own country, that with all limitations you have, you still can go study overseas and having a good quality education, besides an experience of a lifetime, if you just do try and pray your best!

I’ve been on the outlook applying for scholarship from many schools which is yet to come. It’s either some don’t offer scholarships for the intended course of study or the conditions surrounding the offer is too stringent. They should kindly review this conditions and sincerely make the process free and smooth. If you can help with a clean process I will be glad
