High-School Students: Asia Kakehashi program in Japan 2021
A study abroad scholarship program for Asian high-schoolers interested in building their global competence. For this program, AFS is accepting applications from students in the following countries: Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Republic of Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Turkey, Vietnam.
Eligibility:
Applicants interested in the Asia Kakehashi program must meet the following criteria:
- Between 15 and 18 years of age
- Highly motivated, high-achieving students
- Learn some Japanese before the program
- Able and willing to travel abroad unaccompanied
Benefits of the Scholarships:
- Domestic and international round-trip airfare,
- Dormitory fees,
- Normal school expenses,
- Health insurance in Japan and
- All program costs.

The main motive is to learn Japanese and develope a deeper knowledge about Japanese culture. But it is also a great platform for students who aspire to go to Japanese universities for further education. Not only this, but you get a lot of exposure as you meet strong and affirmative participants from other Asian countries as well. Basically the main motive of kakehashi is to have youngsters in Japan who are willing to know bout the culture and learn new language and live on their own, they(Japanese gov.) provide it for free with a amount to spend monthly and you live with host families

I have a few questions:
1) Do you need to be attending a University to apply
2) Can student who have completed matriculation apply,If so then what are the minimum requirements to apply as in how much should your percentage(%) be.
3) How much Japanese proficiency is required, because I only know a few phrases.
You should know N5 level Japanese (basic level) And yes you should matric passed it’s good if you’re not in a uni the percentage of past 3 yrs should be above 60% read the application form for more information
