Applying for an LSE scholarship for your master’s in United Kingdoms

There is much competition for both our scholarships and for those offered by other organisations such as the British Council. LSE’s world class graduate programmes attract a consistently high calibre of applicants, many of whom seek financial support from the School. Unfortunately, we receive many more applications for support than there are awards available and we have to disappoint many able and deserving candidates.

Securing financial assistance can be a long and time consuming process so you should start to think about it as soon as you begin to consider undertaking graduate study.

Application process

To give yourself the best possible chance of success, forward planning is essential. The Graduate Admissions Office accepts applications for admission to the School from October each year for entry in the following September and it is advisable to apply as early as possible for a place at the School.

Early application ensures you have the best chance of receiving support from the Graduate Support Scheme and being considered for other LSE Awards for which you are eligible.

How to apply for admission

What is available

Please read through the information on this site about the different scholarships that are offered by LSE. The site is updated in November each year for the subsequent academic session. New scholarships may become available during the course of the year. We recommend you check this website on a regular basis.

Please read all the information carefully as in some cases you may need to contact other agencies or organisations. If a separate contact address is given, the Financial Support Office is unlikely to hold any additional information.

Where application for the scholarship is via LSE, and unless otherwise specified, you must complete the online LSE Graduate Financial Support Application form, which is available on the Graduate Admissions’ web tracker system once you apply for admission.

You will be automatically considered for all the scholarships for which you are eligible by completing and submitting the LSE Graduate Financial Support Application, including the personal statement. It is therefore only necessary to complete the application form once, regardless of how many awards you would like to be considered for. The form will be available until 5pm 27 April 2020 and you must be holding an offer of admission by this date to be considered for financial support.

It is also advisable to carry out your own research into what is available. The best source of information is the internet, but you may also find information in a good public library or in a local British Council Office.
