2018 Journalism Fellowship in Bangkok, Thailand (Fully Funded)

Theme: Disinformation and Governance in Southeast Asia

SEAPA Fellowship programme encourage young Journalists who passionate about issue concerning Disinformation and Governance in Southeast Asia, to submit a proposal story that tickle the concerning issue nowadays. Fellowship could apply individually or as a team. Fellowship applicants must write a proposal on the story that they want to conduct as part of the application.  

Where: Will attend SEAPA’s regional conference on disinformation in Bangkok, Thailand.

When: 28-29 September 2018

Type of Programme: Fully-Funded

Nationality: Must be citizens coming from southeast Asian countries: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam

Number of Fellowship: Between 6 and 10 participants will be selected.

Eligible Applicants:

  • Be mid-career journalists with at least five (5) years of experience in print, broadcast, and/or online media.
  • Applicants could apply as a team.
  • Must be candidates from eligible country
  • Candidates must have to ability to understand English
  • Women, journalists working outside the country’s capital or journalist working in community media are strongly encourage to apply.

  2. A current CV (no more than 2 pages)
  3. A story proposal of 500 works consisting of Specific Topic, Abstract, Story Plan, and Budget.
  4. Risk assessment
  5. Gender considerations in the content and sources
  6. Target output format and plan for publication;
  7. Motivation letter explaining Why are you joining this Fellowship, How you think this fellowship will help you as a journalist, and Why you think this story is relevant to the fellowship theme.
  8. At least 2 sample of Publication of in-depth article.
  9. Letter of endorsement from an editor or producer who agree to publish he anticipated story.

Award:

Successful applicants will be asked to attend SEAPA’s regional conference on disinformation: 28-29 September 2018, Bangkok, Thailand. (Airfare and accommodation will be borne by SEAPA.)

Deadline: The submission of the proposal and other requirements must be done by September 10th, 2018
