150 AUT International Student Accommodation Scholarships in New Zealand 2022

Auckland University of Technology (AUT) provides accommodation scholarships to financially support new and returning international students in their journey in becoming great graduates of AUT.

The scholarship guarantees accommodation at AUT’s Te Āhuru Mayoral Drive Student Accommodation, located in the heart of Auckland city, just a minute’s walk from AUT City Campus, offering quality, modern, single studio-style living.

Selection criteria:

  • See Additional Information for eligible categories. 1.  Applicants must be full-fee paying international students (Note: International students are students who are neither citizens, permanent residents nor resident visa holders of New Zealand or Australia). 2. Applicants must have a current and valid conditional or unconditional offer to study in an AUT programme (minimum 120 points) full time. 3. Applicants will be asked to provide their AUT Student ID in the box provided on the application form. Applicants are required to declare if they have applied for other forms of scholarships both internally (i.e. awarded by AUT) and externally (e.g. government scholarships). The selection committee will take this into consideration.

How do students apply?
Application is through the AUT online scholarship portal www.aut.ac.nz/scholarships. Applicants must complete the AUT International Student Accommodation Scholarships application online through the AUT Scholarships database from this link.   Applicants will be asked to indicate under which category (select one only) they wish to be considered and must meet the eligibility criteria for the category under which they are applying.   Applicants are required to upload: 1. Current and valid conditional or unconditional offer to study at AUT. 2. Updated academic transcripts and any completion certificates. 3. A personal statement (maximum 200 words) explaining why you are applying for this scholarship, and what it would mean to you to receive it. All documentation must be uploaded by the closing date otherwise the application will be considered ineligible.

Decision makers
Applications will be shortlisted and selected by the selection committee comprising of representative of AUT International and Student Services.  Selection will be based on the strength of the personals statement. Applicants who have declared other forms of scholarships both internally (i.e. awarded by AUT) and externally (e.g. government scholarships) will be considered on a case-by-case basis regarding eligibility.

How and when do students learn of the decision?
Applicants will be notified of the outcome by the University Scholarships Office as soon as possible after the panel have made their decisions.

What conditions are attached to acceptance of this award?
1. The award of this scholarship is conditional on the student gaining entry to an AUT programme (minimum 120 points) or returning as a student in the border exception cohort, nominated by AUT. 2. Recipients will reside in AUT’s Te Āhuru Mayoral Drive Student Accommodation and the award paid directly to student’s rental account in two instalments, at the beginning of each semester, after the official refund period. 3. Recipients of this scholarship are required to be enrolled full time at AUT and be residing in AUT’s Te Āhuru Mayoral Drive Student Accommodation during the tenure of the scholarship. Failure to do so may result in the recipient be required to pay back the full value of the scholarship received.

Additional information
AUT International Student Accommodation Scholarships is paid as a contribution to rent at AUT’s Te Āhuru Mayoral Drive Student Accommodation for the first two semesters.  The scholarship is worth $5,000 in total.  Total number on offer: 150 The scholarships are available to the following categories of international students: Offshore students New or returning full-fee international students entering or returning from offshore as part of the border exception cohort, nominated by AUT.  This is on top of additional financial assistance and rebate on Managed Isolation and Quarantine (MIQ) facility costs provided by AUT. International New Zealand high school leavers New to AUT, full-fee paying international students undertaking a undergraduate or pre-degree with a New Zealand secondary qualification. Returning AUT Alumni Returning new to programme, full-fee paying international students undertaking a graduate diploma, postgraduate diploma, or master’s degree with an AUT undergraduate degree. Foundation students New to AUT, full-fee paying international students undertaking an undergraduate or pre-degree degree with foundation award in New Zealand.
