YSEALI Academy Public Policy Seminar: “Southeast Asia’s Economic Integration Amid Global Turbulence”

The YSEALI Academy at Fulbright University Vietnam (FUV) announced the call for applications for the 2023 Public Policy Seminar on “Southeast Asia’s Economic Integration Amid Global Turbulence.”

The seminar is a 1-week in-person seminar in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, preceded by online engagement sessions geared towards young professionals who are passionate about tackling global and regional issues, and willing to sharpen their skills to do so.

About YSEALI Academy

Launched in 2020, YSEALI Academy’s main mission is to organize seminars and workshops fostering capacity for young professionals, and junior and middle-management-level individuals aged 25 – 40 from across Southeast Asia (YSEALI Academy Fellows). Each year, the YSEALI Academy offers three flagship seminars on Public Policy, Technology & Innovation, and Entrepreneurship.

Public Policy Seminar

Over the past several years, Southeast Asia has been dramatically hit by global headwinds: the great power confrontation, the COVID-19 pandemic, supply chain disruption, recent global conflicts, and worldwide tension of energy, inflation, and economic uncertainty.

What should Southeast Asian policymakers, organizations and businesses do? How do the multilateral arrangements (both intra and extra) of Southeast Asia including multiple Free Trade Agreements (FTA), Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CP-TPP) and Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) help?

With the theme of “Southeast Asia’s Economic Integration Amid Global Turbulence,” the 2023 YSEALI Academy Public Policy Seminar aims at answering those questions, expanding YSEALI Academy fellows’ knowledge and skills of topics related to economic integration in Southeast Asia, plus building a strong network of highly motivated young professionals.

A synergy of lectures by world-renown scholars, panel discussions, leadership training, field trips, and team projects in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, will provide a unique opportunity for young leaders to think, learn, and practice new knowledge and skills.

The 2023 Public Policy Seminar on “Southeast Asia’s Economic Integration Amid Global Turbulence” will be open to candidates who are young professionals between the ages of 25-40, highly qualified and motivated, from all 10 ASEAN member countries and Timor-Leste.

Once selected, all participants will be fully funded by the U.S. Department of State to attend the seminar.
