Youngstown State University Scholarships for International Students to study in the USA
We provide the following scholarships for qualified applicants. Qualified freshman applicants may be eligible for both INTERNATIONAL UNDERGRADUATE GPA BASED SCHOLARSHIP and YSU HONORS COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS.
1. INTERNATIONAL UNDERGRADUATE GPA BASED SCHOLARSHIP
Based on a 4.0 scale GPA;
Effective Term: Fall Semesters only. For example, if you are granted this scholarship while enrolled in Spring semester, you will be receiving the scholarships from the following fall semester. It means you will have to pay full tuition for the first spring semester; The deadline of scholarship issuance for qualified students is April 1.
Available to incoming international freshmen only.
This renewable scholarship will be added to your admission automatically for eligible applicants (student does not need to apply separately).

2. YSU HONORS COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS

Please note: You must be admitted by the International Programs Office and have activated your YSU email to be able to apply to the Honors College.

Eligibility and Deadline: For admitted international transfer students to be considered for this scholarship, you must turn in your official college transcript(s) by the first day of International Student Orientation of your first enrolled semester. 4. SPORTS SCHOLARSHIPS INFORMATION – FOR ATHLETE APPLICANTS
5. FERNDALE FOUNDATION, INC. SCHOLARSHIP
This is a restricted scholarship for the benefit of international students indigenous to North or Central America, or children of parents from those regions now living in the United States of America. Applicants must be enrolled full-time with a minimum 2.8 GPA. Preference will be given to students who are Native American or from Guatemala majoring in Education, Business, Graphic Design, Nursing or Health Professions, Criminal Justice or any STEM major.

Awards Available: Up to 2 per year

6. THE STEPHEN AND BRIGITTA S. HANZLEY INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP
Scholarship for current International Students: The Stephen and Brigitta S. Hanzley International Scholarship was established in 2000. It awards up to $1000 financial assistance for one year, renewable through selection, to undergraduate international students studying at Youngstown State University.

7. GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP (NEW STUDENTS ONLY)
Graduate scholarships are available from the College of Graduate Studies for new graduate students accepted into a YSU graduate degree program, except the Doctor of Education, Physical Therapy, Materials Science and Engineering, Family Nurse Practitioner and Nurse Anesthetist programs.
CRITERIA FOR THE SCHOLARSHIP
- Cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.5 or above
- All undergraduate coursework for the earned bachelor’s degree will be included in determining the GPA.
Each scholarship is renewable for up to 6 semesters if the student maintains a 3.0 graduate GPA and completes a minimum of 6 semester hours of graduate courses in the fall semester and 6 graduate hours in the spring semester.
The Graduate Scholarship is applied to the instructional fees only. Students receiving the College Credit Plus Instructor Scholarship or the Graduate Premiere Scholarship are ineligible for the Graduate Scholarship.
No scholarship application is required; however, this scholarship is competitive and will be distributed according to GPA until the allocation for each program is met. Students should apply for admission early as funds are limited.
