Why is public speaking important and how to improve it

Public speaking is a process of communication which you use in order to tell audiences about the information you got as well as your ideas. Some people are afraid of public speaking, and they will be shaky most of the times they stand in front of many people. Even though you are afraid of it, you still need to do it at least once. In fact, public speaking could provide you benefits that you should do it more often.

You should be grateful for the chance to have a public speaking. It can be in front of small or big group of people, but it is a great opportunity to speak out your ideas or beliefs. For instance, you get a topic to talk about nature; you could tell people how you think and how you involve in making the nature beautiful. You should remember that your voice or thinking is heard through public speaking.

Finding public speaking as pressure is not really a choice. Why don’t you consider it as an improvement? Public speaking can help you to develop your thinking skills because you have chance to think critically by analyzing and making reflection. Sometimes, you are asked to talk about solutions of a problem for your speaking, so that you are able to think deeply about problem-solving plus your involvement in the dealing process. All in all, you can become more skeptical because of your critical thinking.

Building your self-confidence is one of the advantages of public speaking. You may not like this kind of speaking, but it will help you increase your self-confidence dramatically. By doing public speaking you are increasing your skill at communicating with others, making you more confident around people automatically, and it also increases your skill at perceiving people’s reactions to your message.




You can get advantages from public speaking in many ways, so you should learn how to improve this skill. Your public speaking skill will gradually improve once you follow a few steps below.

Practice

Practice makes perfect. If you want to improve the skill, you should practice it as often as you could. To practice, you can search on the internet for a topic, and try to rehearse it. By doing so, you will get yourself accustomed to the real time in doing public speaking.

 

Coping with your nerves

There are many ways that you can do to relieve your stress and nervousness. You should tell yourself that being nervous cannot help you. You’d better spend time to think about how and what could you do to make a better speech instead. So, you should try to be as positive and calm as you could.

 

Learning about yourself

You may watch recordings of your speeches or whatever you practiced in order to learn about your strength and weakness of your speaking.

If you find out that your speaking is fast and unclear, you can be more conscious about these points. Also, you should remind yourself about your body languages. For example, you know yourself well what body languages could make you be confident or make the audiences annoy.
