The Vanier CGS is a prestigious scholarship valued at $50,000 per year for 3 years and is designed to attract and retain world-class doctoral students.  Both Canadian and International students are eligible to apply and may be nominated by the University of Guelph if they demonstrate all three of the equally weighted criteria: academic excellence, research potential, and leadership.  Vanier Scholars will demonstrate leadership skills and a high standard of scholarly achievement in graduate studies in the social sciences and/or humanities, natural sciences and/or engineering and health.

Important Deadlines for Candidates:

  1. Deadline to submit a University of Guelph Intent to Apply form is August 10, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. (EDT). 
  2. Deadline to submit a completed Vanier CGS application in ResearchNet is September 18, 2020 at 8:00 p.m. (EDT).

Candidate Timeline

August 10, 2020, 11:59 p.m. (EDT) – Potential Vanier candidates must submit a University of Guelph Intent to Apply form 

August 11-12, 2020 – OGPS will distribute copies of the Intent to Apply forms to the department Graduate Program Coordinator for confirmation of department support of candidates’ Vanier applications

August 21, 2020 – The department Graduate Program Coordinator will notify all candidates who submitted an Intent to Apply form as to whether their application will be supported by the department before/by this date

Between August 21 (and/or earlier) & September 18, 2020 –The department will continue to assist and support the selected candidates as needed in putting together a strong Vanier CGS application package 

September 18, 2020, 8:00 p.m. (EDT) – The application is due for submission by the candidate in ResearchNet

September 21, 2020 – Applications are made available to departments so that nomination letters can be written 

October 5, 2020 – Department nomination letters are due electronically to the OGPS Awards Officers at grschol@uoguelph.ca

Late October – If endorsed by the University of Guelph, the applicant will receive an institutional Letter of Endorsement

November 3, 2020, 8:00 p.m. (EDT) – Vanier CGS agency submission deadline

  4. I need to know whether University of Guelph have scope for research on Electrical Engineering subject like “Characteristics of Electricity- Most efficient power supply”. For more clarification, the subject is supported by the question “What is the most efficient voltage and what is the most efficient frequency?”.
    If yes, please let me know, I will produce documents on this subject.
