**APPLICATIONS FOR 2021 SCHOLARSHIPS WILL OPEN IN AUGUST 2020**
UQ’s Academic Scholarship program aims to reward the achievements of outstanding school leavers and gap year students. If you are a high-achieving student and you are completing Year 12 in 2020 (or you completed in 2019 and you’re on a gap year), you are encouraged to apply.
There are three scholarships on offer:
UQ Vice-Chancellors Scholarships
Awarded to applicants who achieve a minimum ATAR of 99.90 (or equivalent):
- Award Value: $12,000 per year, total value of up to $60,000
- Duration: Up to 5 years
- Level: Undergraduate and any subsequent related postgraduate study, such as Honours.
UQ Excellence Scholarships
Awarded to applicants who demonstrate outstanding academic, leadership and/or community service achievements during their senior secondary studies who aspire to study at The University of Queensland.
Applicants who achieve a minimum ATAR of 99.00 (or equivalent) will be considered for a UQ Excellence Scholarship:
- Award Value: $6,000 per year, total value of up to $24,000
- Duration: Up to 4 years
- Level: Undergraduate and any subsequent related postgraduate study, such as Honours.
UQ Merit Scholarships
Awarded to high achieving applicants who have demonstrated significant academic, leadership and/or community service achievements during Years 11 & 12.
Applicants who achieve a who achieve a minimum ATAR of 95.00 (or equivalent) will be considered for a UQ Merit Scholarship:
- Award Value: $6,000
- Duration: First year of study
- Level: Undergraduate study.
Eligibility
Academic scholarships are open to Year 12 and gap year students who are:
- Australian Citizens or Australian Permanent Humanitarian Visa Holders, or
- Australian Permanent Residents, New Zealand citizens, or international students completing, or have completed, Years 11 and 12 in Australia;
AND
- have not completed any previous tertiary study other than that undertaken as part of Year 11–12 studies (e.g. Enhanced Studies Program); and
- have applied for a tertiary place through QTAC; and
- are intending to enrol as a full-time student in a UQ undergraduate program in 2021 (or 2022 if deferring their tertiary place); and
- will have UQ listed as their 1st or 2nd QTAC preference.

Selection criteria
- Scholarship recipients will be determined by a panel of senior UQ staff and selection is completely at the University’s discretion.
- Scholarships will be awarded with consideration to a range of factors including but not necessarily limited to academic achievement, demonstrated leadership and/or community service achievements, financial need, program preferences and secondary school attended.
- Bonus ranks applied as a result of any scheme will NOT apply for the purposes of awarding scholarships.
