THE 5th ASEAN – RUSSIA YOUTH SUMMIT

NATIONAL YOUTH COMMISSION WELCOMES DELEGATES TO THE 5th ASEAN – RUSSIA YOUTH SUMMIT

The National Youth Commission welcomes more than a hundred participants attending the 5th ASEAN – Russia Youth Summit at the Hilton Hotel Manila.

Delegates are selected youth leaders from the ASEAN Member States, namely: Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. They will be accompanied by their respective officials who also attend the ASEAN Senior Officials’ Meeting on Youth (SOMY).

Likewise, there will be more than twenty officials, delegates and observers from the Russian Embassy and from the Federal Agency of Youth Affairs of the Russian Federation who are expected to attend the summit.

The 5th ASEAN-Russia Youth Summit is made possible by the joint efforts of the Russian Federation and the ASEAN Secretariat. This year’s event is hosted by the Philippines through the National Youth Commission with the support of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Department of Education, the ASEAN Embassies in Manila, Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of Tourism-Tourism Promotions Board, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, Presidential Communications Operations Office, Radio TV Malacanang, Philippine National Police NCR, Department of Health, Intramuros Administration, Senate of the Philippines, House of Representatives, Manila International Airport Authority, and other relevant agencies and institutions.

This year’s theme, “Enhancing People to People Connectivity between ASEAN and Russia” highlights plenary discussions and workshops on Education, Economy Trade & Business Exchanges and Cultural Understanding with resource persons providing significant insights and the best practices for the participants. The expected output is a Draft Declaration on Young People’s Contribution to ASEAN-Russia Relations.
