Scholarship for Bachelor of Business Information Technology (Professional)
The Bachelor of Business Information Technology (Professional) is one of Australia’s most prestigious IT degrees. It has been designed in partnership with leading Australian companies and aims to maximise students’ employability potential and provide future leaders in Australia’s bourgeoning IT industry.
Students spend 40 weeks gaining direct experience in industry by working with two of Swinburne’s sponsoring partners. Placements may be completed with organisations such as Deloitte, KPMG, Melbourne Water, National Australia Bank, Newcrest Mining, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Seek, Siemens, Simplot, Infoready, Fenick Software, Bakers Delight, JDLF, SMS Management & Technology or Unico Computer Systems. Students also receive an industry-funded scholarship totalling approximately $40,000.
Students develop technical skills in database and programming, with an emphasis placed on business analysis and problem-solving, business process management, business analytics, project management, the management of information systems (IS) in organisations, the provision of IS services, social networking in organisations, and mobile business and connectivity. The course also includes business units aimed at developing managerial and leadership skills.

Eligibility / selection criteria
Applicants must:
- successfully complete the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or its equivalent or
- complete or partially complete an approved tertiary qualification (including Certificates, Diplomas, Advanced Diplomas, Associate Degrees and Degrees)
All shortlisted candidates are required to attend a briefing session and an interview.
Value
The scholarship program is valued at approximately $40,000 paid in fortnightly instalments over the three-year course.
How to apply
All students who apply for the Bachelor of Business Information Technology (Professional) are automatically assessed to be awarded the scholarship. There is no need to submit a separate scholarship application.
Application must be made through VTAC by selecting the Bachelor of Business Information Technology (Professional) (VTAC code 3400234311) as a preference. Under certain circumstances, some students (e.g. Non-Year 12) may apply directly to Swinburne. Find out more about how to apply.
