Application and selection process
International scholarships are merit-based awards, available to new overseas entrants starting in September 2022. To apply candidates must have an offer of study and confirmed interest in a scholarship (by completing the scholarship form) by the following deadlines:
Undergraduate and country specific scholarships: 29 April 2022
Postgraduate scholarship: 13 June 2022
Applications will be considered by a panel with consideration to the differing skills and backgrounds of applicants, and awards will be based on a range of subject areas and countries of domicile.
International scholarships are only available to students paying the international fee, and cannot be combined with any other NUA financial award or bursary.
Full scholarship terms and conditions will be sent to international offer-holders.
Singapore Advanced Awards
*Singapore Advanced Awards are merit-based awards for Year 2 applicants who have obtained a relevant Diploma from a Singapore polytechnic, LASALLE Art College or Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA). Qualifying applicants will automatically be considered for these awards.
2022 international alumni bursary
Bursaries are available to international NUA students and alumni wishing to progress to postgraduate study in 2022. An automatic 10% reduction will be applied to the international fee for international NUA students who have already completed an undergraduate course with us and wish to start a postgraduate course at NUA.
Living costs
Norwich has been ranked by the Times Higher Education (2018) as the second most affordable student city in the UK. Your living costs while studying at university will depend on your spending habits. For example, you will spend more money if eating out and ordering takeaways, than you will cooking at home with your housemates.
Students are encouraged to find work experience and internship opportunities whilst studying. International students are allowed to work a limited number of hours per week on a student visa (full time during university holidays). The Ideas Factory at NUA will help you look for jobs, produce your CV and secure your National Insurance number. Advice will be provided during the International Arrivals Lounge when you first arrive at NUA that we highly recommend attending if you wish to take on a part-time job.
It is important to stay on top of your finances, and stick to a budget to ensure you don’t overspend. Below you can find the typical outgoings that you will have as a student, and a detailed cost breakdown can be found by checking the Which Student Calculator.
Your budget should consider the following monthly spending:
Expenditure | Total | |
---|---|---|
Accommodation (based on NUA accommodation) | £396-£600 | |
Course materials | up to £82 | |
Phone bill | £15-£30 | |
Local travel | £30-£50 | |
Food/clothes/entertainment | up to £328 |
