L-EARN for Impact Scholarship for Developing countries 2023-24, University of Rotterdam, Netherlands

This scholarship is open to individuals from developing countries with relevant professional experience and a history of supporting their country’s development efforts, applying for a master’s degree programme at Erasmus School of History, Culture and Communication (ESHCC).
After the completion of the master’s degree programme the awardee commits to return to their home country to use their new skills and contribute to their country’s social and economic development.
Scholarship amount and payment
The scholarship amounts to €15.000 and an additional tuition fee waiver which will lower the tuition fee to the statutory fee.
For whom?
- Your nationality is included in the World Bank List of Developing Countries.
- You have submitted your application for a full-time master at the Erasmus School of History, Culture and Communication (ESHCC) before 1 March.*
- You have recent relevant work experience after earning a bachelor’s degree.
- You are considered an excellent applicant, as apparent from your motivation and grade point average (demonstrated through your academic record for the bachelor programme). The rule of the thumb is that the average grade should be the equivalent to the Dutch grade of 8.0 on the Dutch grading scale of 1 to 10.
- You need to demonstrate the reason why this scholarship will enlarge your opportunity to study at ESHCC by including a budget plan, indicating how much money you expect to spend each month.
- Eventually, you need to be enrolled no later than 1 September of the academic year for which the scholarship is being requested.
* An admission offer is not required when submitting your application, however, only students with an admission offer will be considered for the L-EARN for Impact Scholarship.
Scholarship awarding
Candidates shortlisted by ESHCC will be forwarded to the Selection Committee for final selection. In case of nomination, the applicant will be informed by the Scholarship Department of Erasmus University Rotterdam (scholarships@eur.nl) no later than 31 May.
Terms and conditions
The applicant granted this scholarship should be aware that it applies to only one academic year.
The scholarship will only be awarded when the applicant will start with the same programme for which he/she has applied and for which the applicant has received admission. Switching programmes after being awarded a scholarship is not possible.
There is only one L-EARN for Impact Scholarship available for ESHCC applicants. Therefore, no rights can be derived when the above-mentioned minimum application criteria are met.
To be able to provide as many applicants with a scholarship, only 1 type of scholarship will be awarded to 1 applicant. This means you may apply for multiple scholarships; however, a combination of multiple scholarships will not be awarded.
ESHCC reserves the right to withdraw the offer for the L-EARN for Impact Scholarship and the additional waiver if the applicant fails to comply with the terms and conditions.
When to apply?
Applicants can apply for the L-EARN for Impact Scholarship up to and including 30 April.
Please note:
- We can only take your application for the L-EARN for Impact Scholarship into consideration if it is complete and meets all of the below requirements.
- You may only apply if you have submitted your application for one of ESHCC’s master’s degree programmes no later than 1 March.
