Full tuition fee master scholarships at Royal College of Arts, London
The RCA runs a number of scholarship schemes aimed at enabling access for students with exceptional talent who may otherwise struggle to attend without financial assistance.
The majority of scholarships are awarded as part of the programme application process. You must demonstrate exceptional promise to be invited to apply for a scholarship. Availability is limited and most scholarships are restricted to certain programmes, so check below for details.
You must apply for your programme by 13 November 2019 in order to guarantee you are considered for a scholarship. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to apply for scholarships in early January.
An exception is the Tony Snowdon Scholarship, where candidates need to register their interest directly with the Scholarships team.
Scholarships are awarded based on the following criteria:
- the strength of your RCA application (initial shortlisting)
- financial need (scholarship application)
- motivation and potential for leadership (scholarship application)
- your portfolio
Ameea Scholarships
Eligible Programmes/fee status: Four MA Intelligent Mobility scholarships one MA Textiles scholarship. UK/EU students only.
Scholarship value: Full tuition fee scholarships with an additional £2,000 awarded towards maintenance costs.
Burberry Design Scholarships
Eligible Programmes/fee status: Open to applicants to the following programmes: MA Architecture, MA Design Products, MA Digital Direction, MA Fashion, MA Information Experience Design, MA Innovation Design Engineering, MA Interior Design, MA Jewellery & Metal, MA Photography, MA Print, MA Textiles and MA Visual Communications. UK/EU students only. Preference is given to UK students from Yorkshire and students with financial challenges.
Scholarship value: Seven full tuition fee scholarships.
The Cass Art Scholarship
Eligible Programmes/fee status: MA Sculpture only. UK/EU students only.
Scholarship value: One full tuition fee scholarship.
The Paul Desty Scholarship
Eligible Programmes/fee status: MA Painting only. UK/EU students only.
Scholarship value: One full tuition fee scholarship.
Charlotte Fraser Scholarship
Eligible Programmes/fee status: MA Ceramics & Glass only. UK/EU students only.
Scholarship value: One full tuition fee scholarship.
Haberdashers Scholarship
Eligible Programmes/fee status: MA Textiles only. UK/EU students only.
Scholarship value: Tuition fee scholarship for first year of studies only, plus £500 to help with materials.
Leverhulme Trust Scholarships
Eligible Programmes/fee status: Open to applicants for: MA Sculpture, MA Painting, MA Contemporary Art Practice, MA Print, MA Photography. UK/EU students only.
Scholarship value: Four full fee tuition fee scholarships for each year of the course
Liu Ling Scholarship
Eligible Programmes/fee status: MA Service Design only. International students only.
Scholarship value: Full tuition fee scholarship, plus a living cost stipend of £12,000 per academic year.
Heveningham Concours Scholarship
Eligible Programmes/fee status: MA Intelligent Mobility only. Any, but preference for UK students.
Scholarship value: £30,000, with remainder after tuition fees given as cash bursary.
Orla Kiely Scholarship
Eligible Programmes/fee status: MA Textiles only. UK/EU students only.
Scholarship value: Full tuition fee scholarship.
Rose Finn-Kelcey Bursary Scholarship
Eligible Programmes/fee status: MA Sculpture, MA Painting, MA Contemporary Art Practice, MA Print and MA Photography. Any fee status.
Scholarship value: A tuition fee bursary of £5,000 for each year of the MA programme.
The Tony Snowdon Scholarship
Eligible Programmes/fee status: Applicants to any MA Programme with a diagnosed physical or sensory disability. Students need to register their interest by emailing scholarships@rca.ac.uk before 13 November 2019. Click here for more information. UK/EU students only.
Scholarship value: Full tuition fee scholarship, plus a maintenance grant of £15,000 per academic year.
Dyers’ Bursary
Eligible Programmes/fee status: MA Textiles only. Any fee status.
Scholarship value: A tuition fee bursary of £5,000
Roger Walls Binns Bursary for Fashion and Textiles
Eligible Programmes/fee status: MA Fashion and MA Textiles only. Any fee status.
Scholarship value: Two full tuition fee scholarships.
The Anne Tyrell Design Award
Eligible Programmes/fee status: MA Fashion only. Any fee status.
Scholarship value: Bursaries of £4,000 each awarded to two students in their first year of studies only.
Tim Brown Scholarship
Eligible Programmes/fee status: MA Design Products, MA Fashion, MA Global Innovation Design, MA Innovation Design Engineering, MA Service Design and MA Textiles only. Based on significant and historical underrepresentation at the College, this scholarship will have the requirement that candidate’s identity as BAME (Black and Minority Ethnic). Register your interest by emailing scholarships@rca.ac.uk before 13 November 2019. UK students only.
Scholarship value: Two full tuition fee scholarships.
Additional information
Scholarships are extremely competitive and limited in number, so we recommend you also look into external funding options too and apply for other scholarships available.
Scholarships are awarded for a specific programme and entry point and cannot be deferred without consent from the academic Programme and scholarships panel.
No correspondence will be entered into regarding the reasons for their decision.
No appeal is allowed, as once scholarships are awarded, all available funds have been committed.
If successful in receiving a scholarship, you must meet the terms and conditions of the award in order to continue to receive the scholarship for the duration of your studyies.
