Scholarship description
The Fulbright Program in Australia has a rich history and proud legacy supporting educational excellence and cultural exchange. The central focus is to develop long-lasting, productive bilateral relations, partnerships and connections between Australia and the US.
For Australian applicants there are 4 different programs across all career stages:
Postgraduate
Supports Australian graduate students to undertake an American postgraduate program such as a master’s degree or allows PhD students undertaking their research in Australia to conduct research in the US as a Visiting Research Student.
Postdoctoral
Allows Australian researchers who have completed their PhD in the past 3 years (up to 5 years under extenuating circumstances) to undertake postdoctoral research in the United States.
Scholar
Allows academics (at associate professor or full professor level) and mid-career professionals (with an undergraduate qualification and minimum 10 years work experience) to undertake research and/or training in the United States for 3 to 4 months in any discipline.
Discipline-specific awards are also available (applicants can be considered for multiple awards).
Fulbright Future Scholarships
Allows postgraduate students, PhD researchers, academics and professionals to undertake study or research at any US institution. Awardees will receive funding for full tuition/visiting researcher expenses at a US institution of their choice, as well as travel and living costs.
Anne Wexler Scholarship in Public Policy
Enables an Australian postgraduate student with strong academic credentials and leadership potential to undertake a two-year Master’s degree in the U.S. in an area that supports Wexler’s binational interests in the field of public policy.
Eligibility
Australian citizens
Fulbright Scholarships are available to Australian citizens from all disciplines to undertake research or study in the United States for 3 to 12 months.
US citizens
Fulbright Scholarships are available to American citizens from all disciplines to undertake research or study in Australia for 3 to 12 months. Australian citizens who hold dual American citizenship are not eligible to apply.
