DAAD-EPOS Scholarship, MSc in Development Economics (University Georg-August, Göttingen) 2021-2022

Application deadline: October 1 2020, November 15, 2020 for Winter term 2021.

The English-language Master of Science in Development Economics is jointly offered by the Department of Economics (Faculty of Business and Economics) and the Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development (Faculty of Agricultural Sciences). It builds on the successful Master of Science in International Economics and Master of Arts in Agribusiness; these programmes already had a strong specialization in development issues. This research-oriented master programme now offers a comprehensive four semester programme dedicated solely to the study of development economics issues.

Benefits:

Funded through DAAD-EPOS programme, the University of Göttingen offers 7-8 scholarships each year for students from developing countries.

  • €750 monthly stipend,
  • full insurance coverage, and
  • travel allowance
  • intensive German language course prior to the programme start.
  • Furthermore, students with children can apply for additional funds to secure their living expenses.

Eligibility (DAAD-EPOS Scholarship):

In addition to the general programme requirements for the MA Development Economics as outlined here, successful EPOS applicants need to have a verifiable professional experience of at least two years in an occupation that is, in broad terms, relevant to the field of development or agricultural economics.
To verify that you fulfill this requirement, please provide the following documents along with your other application material:

  • certicate(s) of employment that include the exact position and period of employment;
  • a letter of reference from the employer(s), ideally guaranteeing re-employment after completion of the postgraduate course in Germany.

Furthermore, EPOS applicants are expected to have an excellent academic record and a final grade/GPA that places them in the top 30% of their cohort.
To verify that you fulfill this requirement, please provide the following documents along with your other application material:

  • An academic letter of reference;

Priority target candidates have proven, development-related motivation and can be expected to make full use of their scholarship and education by taking on social responsibility later in their careers, acting as agents of change who stimulate and support development in their personal and professional surroundings (motivation, commitment to development). Women and candidates from disadvantaged groups who meet programme standards are particularly encouraged to apply and will be granted preferential treatment in scholarship allocation.

In general, no more than six years should have passed between completion of the undergraduate studies qualifying you for admission in the MA Development Economics and your application to our master’s programme.

    Morning, I am an indigenous person from Batwa in Rwanda currently known as Historically Marginalised Population (HMP), I wish to demonstrate my interest in the programme; currently I hold a National Diploma in Development Studies that I got from Kimmage Manor Dublin Ireland I would wish to pursue a degree in development areas.
