Chancellor’s Masters Scholarships are available for First Class graduates from the UK or Ireland. There are only 100 scholarships available, so there is a competitive application process.

Eligibility
- Who is eligible
To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:- have studied a Bachelors (Hons) at a UK or Irish university and hold, or expect to achieve, a First
- have accepted an offer of a place on an eligible full time or part time Masters course to start in September 2022
- Who isn’t eligible
You are not eligible for this scholarship if you:- Are applying for a Masters at a university that is not at the University of Sussex
- Are progressing into the final year of an integrated Masters at Sussex
- Are a 2022 Sussex graduate
- Studied at a UK University’s overseas campus or external programme
- Already hold another University of Sussex scholarship (i.e. Sussex Alumni Award)
- Are studying one of the Excluded courses listed below.

You are not eligible for this scholarship if you are going to study any of the following:- Certificates and Diplomas (including PGCE)
- Courses at Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS)
- Development Studies MA
- Early Years Education (with Early Years Teacher status)
- Globalisation, Business and Development MA
- Governance, Development and Public Policy MA
- Power, Participation and Social Change MA
- Poverty and Development MA
- Degrees in Social work (if receiving an NHS bursary)
- Online courses
- Schools direct teaching courses
- Masters funded by the research councils (e.g. ESRC 1+3 funding)

How to apply
To be considered for the Chancellors Masters Scholarship, you need to have received and accepted an offer of a place on an eligible Masters at Sussex and hold, or expect to achieve, a First Class UK or Irish Bachelors degree. To apply for the scholarship, you are required to provide a statement of academic interests. You should include information about:
- Your previous academic achievement and excellence
- Your academic and career aspirations after you have completed your Masters
- Any work or extra-curricular activity you have undertaken that relates to your Masters
