Call for applications MIAS Long and Short-term Fellowships 2021-2022, Madrid, Spain

Once more MIAS opens its calls to offer researchers different types of residency with the aim of reinforcing and internationalizing research in the fields of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Admitted in April 2019 as a full member of the prestigious NetIAS (Network of European Institutes for Advanced Study) network, the institute has become part of the IAS, which promotes spaces for debate, research and the creation of new ideas and is recognized worldwide as an agent for attracting talent on a global scale and as a promoter of prestige and visibility both in the coordinating institution and in the country in which it is located. 

From October 27 to November 30, 2020 researchers who meet the requirements indicated in each call will be able to present their candidacy through the procedures and platforms enabled for this purpose. All relevant information is available on the web and in this summary of call for applications.

Fellowships

LONG STAYS

Tomás y Valiente Fellowship

Young researchers of all nationalities who obtained their Ph.D. between 1 January 2010 and 31 December 2017
2 three-year contracts renewable for an additional 2 years

  • Profile: Researchers who have obtained a PhD between 01/01/2010 and 31/12/2017
  • Duration: 3 years, renewable for an additional two years
  • Disciplines: Human and Social Science disciplines as listed as eference department in this document.
  • Financial conditions: Gross annual salary of 31,600€ Contract of local Spanish law. Provision of accommodation at Casa de Velázquez facilities during the first year of the contract*

Marcel Bataillon Fellowship

Ph.D. holders of all nationalities
3 ten-month contracts
2 junior contracts and 1 senior contract

  • Profile: PhD graduates.
  • Residency duration and period: 10 months non renewable, from 1 October 2021.
  • Disciplines: All Human and Social Science disciplines
  • Financial conditions: Gross salary of around 27,000 € (junior) and 37,000 € (senior) for ten months. Contract of local Spanish law, Researchers with at least 10 years of post-doctoral research experience will be considered senior fellows. Provision of accommodation at Casa de Velázquez facilities*

SHORT STAYS

Lucienne Domergue

Young researchers of all nationalities who obtained their Ph.D. between 1 January 2010 and 31 December 2017
1 six-month fellowship

  • Profile: Holders of a doctorate obtained between 01/01/2010 and 31/12/2017
  • Duration: 6 months between January and July 2022
  • Disciplines: Political Sciences, Social Sciences, Current History
  • Financial conditions: Monthly payment of 1000€, Provision of accommodation at Casa de Velázquez facilities*, Provision of a return trip up to the maximum value of 250€, A additional mobility aid of up to 300€ can be granted to candidates coming from Africa and Latin American countries, on request 

Conditions

  • Good knowledge of English, French and Spanish languages
  • Have not resided in Spain for more than 12 months in the three years prior to the closing date for the submission of this call (sworn statement required)
  • Only projects in Human and Social Sciences will be accepted
  • The project must comply with the scientific guidelines of the MIAS
  • As this grant is supported by the Institut français d’Espagne, preference will be given to researchers who have or have had a link with French research centres

Ph.D. holders of all nationalities 40 monthly grants divided into fellowships of three or four months

  • Profile: PhD graduates
  • Residency duration and period: 3 or 4 months between 1 September 2021 and 31 July 2022
  • Disciplines: All Human and Social Science disciplines
  • Financial conditions: Monthly payment of 1000€, Provision of accommodation at Casa de Velázquez*, Provision of a return trip up to the maximum value of 250€, An additional mobility aid of up to 300€ can be granted to candidates coming from Africa and Latin American countries, on request
