Berlin Mathematical School PhD Program in 2020 is now open!

The first round of the application period for admission to the Berlin Mathematical School PhD Program in 2020 is now open!

For admission to our program in 2020, applications will be accepted via our online portal from 15 September to 1 December 2019
and from 1 March to 1 April 2020.

Application Deadlines

The first round application deadline of 1 December 2019 is for
– Phase I applicants requiring admission with scholarship- Phase II applicants holding a master’s degree by 31 March who want to start before October.

The second round application deadline of 1 April 2020 is for
– Phase I applicants requiring admission only- Phase II applicants holding a master’s degree by 30 September who want to start in October.

First download our BMS PhD Application Guidelines and read them thoroughly before beginning the online application process.

Requirements

Students entering Phase I of the BMS are expected to have a bachelor degree or equivalent.

Berlin mathematics students in their “Hauptstudium” can apply for admission to the BMS. For students who are further advanced, part of the Phase I course requirements may be waived.

Students entering Phase II are expected to have a master degree or equivalent. In addition, they must satisfy the regular admission requirements of the Berlin universities’ PhD programs.

It is important that you submit your application in the correct round. Please refer to page 3 of the BMS PhD Application Guidelines for more details. TOEFL, IELTS & CAE

As proof of English proficiency, we accept TOEFL, IELTS and CAE. We do not require a hard copy of your test result by post, therefore we no longer list our TOEFL code on our website. Simply upload your test result to your online application form by the given deadline. Further details can be found in the BMS PhD Application Guidelines.

Academic Year

The academic year is made up of a winter semester and a summer semester. The winter semester 2020/2021 starts in October 2020 and lectures run until February 2021. The summer semester 2021 starts in April 2021 and lectures run until July 2021.

Registration and Application

We accept applications only via the BMS online application portal.

In order to access the BMS application form, you first have to register:
 Go to Registration. Then submit your application via the BMS online application portal. You may submit only one application per academic year.

Please note that there is no application fee.
