Australian Sustainable Agriculture Scholarship at University of Tasmania

This scholarship is funded by the CSIRO Sustainable Agriculture Flagship. The Australian Sustainable Agriculture Scholarship (ASAS) is an exciting initiative of CSIRO and the Tasmanian Institute of Agriculture (TIA) at the University of Tasmania (UTAS).

CSIRO’s Sustainable Agriculture Flagship and TIA invite candidates to conduct PhD projects that tackle issues in sustainable agriculture, with the support and mentoring of CSIRO’s global leaders in agricultural research.
Type: Living allowance “top-up” and/or operational funds

Scholarship award: This scholarship provides up to $16,666 per year for up to 3 years. This includes a scholarship top-up of $7,500  to living allowance and/or $9,166 pa operational funds to support the PhD research project.

Number of awards: Several scholarships are available




Nationality: International Students

Important information

  • Applicants must have, or intend to apply for, a living   allowance scholarship from another source;
  • The research topic must fit the scheme requirements, which you can find in the official website.
  • The Research Higher Degree must be undertaken on a   full-time basis.
  • Candidates must already have been awarded a First Class   Honours degree or hold equivalent qualifications or relevant and substantial   research experience in an appropriate sector;
  • Candidates have to have abilities to demonstrate strong research   and analytical skills.

Candidates from a variety of disciplinary backgrounds are encouraged to apply.  

Knowledge and skills that will be ranked highly include:

  • Analytical skills
  • Agricultural systems knowledge
