How to apply

Commencing students should select the check box to be considered for the RTP scholarship when submitting your postgraduate research degree application. A separate application is not required. However, you must submit your research degree course application before the relevant RTP deadlines.

Additional application information

International RTP selection is usually completed several months prior to your study commencement date. This means if you wish to commence in Research Period 1 (1 January) or Research Period 2 (1 March) you will need to have submitted your research degree application in September the year prior. If you wish to start in Research Period 3 (1 July) or Research Period 4 (1 October) you will need to have applied in December, the year prior. Please check the table below for exact dates.

Refer to the application and award timeline table below for details.

You cannot defer RTP beyond each calendar year. If you have submitted your course application after the deadline you will automatically be considered for RTP in the next round and receive an outcome from the later date.

You must submit all required documentation for your admission application, and Research Experience evidence (if applicable) to be considered in the relevant award timeline. Please note that your scholarship outcome and course application outcome may be received at separate times.

RTP scholarships are based on academic merit and are highly competitive. You will generally need to have an outstanding academic record, and any research publications will also be highly regarded.

Currently, enrolled HDR students must apply here. Please note that if you have previously been unsuccessful for RTP you will need to provide further academic qualifications or further research publications to be re-considered.
