Fully funded PhD Studentship: Light-Matter Interactions

Fully funded PhD studentship for applicants who are interested in studying study the generation, propagation and interaction with matter of the “Flying Donuts”, a new type of propagating electromagnetic excitations of toroidal topology, that were never experimentally studied before.

Nationality: UK, EU and international applicants

Where: University of Southampton, UK – Highfield Campus

Studentship award: full tuition plus stipend of £14,777 tax-free per annum for up to 3.5 years

Duration: typically three years (full-time)

Eligibility:

In order to apply, you need to:

  • Be highly motivated postgraduate research students
  • Have background in with a background in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, and related subjects
  • Have a first or upper second-class degree (or equivalent) from a recognized university, and a solid grounding in Optics/Electromagnetism
