INTERNATIONAL MASTER IN TECHNOLOGY AND MANAGEMENT FOR CIRCULAR ECONOMY
The Erasmus Mundus Multiple Degree Program “International Master in Technology and Management for Circular Economy” (IMATEC) is oriented on the emerging area of circular economy and bio-economy. The two-year Master’s multiple degree programme offers high-quality vocational education, combining competencies in technology, entrepreneurship, management, planning, science, and research, all focused on circular economy.
Students will be trained in advanced technologies for sustainable use of natural resources, life cycle assessment of these technologies, as well as management and legal and administrative aspects of the circular economy. They will also gain an overview of the latest trends in the research and development of new technologies.
Students will choose their major study track and one additional study area among (1) Technology, (2) Policy and Management, or (3) – Science. The graduates will be qualified for positions in technological companies (e.g. technology suppliers, consultants, or utilities), policymaking bodies (e.g. governmental agencies or NGOs), or R&D (academia or private sector). They will also acquire presentation and managerial skills, teamwork ability, work with information resources, and communication with professionals and the public.
UNIVERSITIES

Three European universities, University of Chemistry and Technology Prague (Prague, Czech Republic), University of Oviedo (Oviedo, Spain), and Åbo Akademi University (Turku, Finland) joined to form the Erasmus Mundus consortium supported by 38 associated partners representing SMEs, large companies, NGOs, and universities that play important roles in the curriculum. The aim is to integrate the current study programs into a coherent study program dealing with technologies and management for the circular economy to provide an internationally attractive and topical Erasmus Mundus Joint Master (EMJM) program and to showcase European excellence in higher education. It addresses the current transition from linear to a circular economy that will allow meeting the objectives of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDG) and is reflected in the EU development strategies including the European Green Deal and the EU action plan for the Circular Economy.
SCHOLARSHIP ALLOCATION
Throughout the run of the Erasmus Mundus IMATEC project, the total of 84 scholarships are divided as follows:
- 20 scholarships will be available for Programme Countries
- 40 scholarships will be available for Partner countries
- 3 scholarships will be available for IPA Partner countries
- 21 scholarships will be available for NDICI Partner countries
The scholarship covers the following costs:
- The students’ participation costs: tuition fee, library and laboratory costs, and any other mandatory costs related to the student’s participation in the Master study programme;
- An allowance of 1400 EUR per month for subsistence, student travel, and accommodation costs for the entire 2 years duration of the study programme.
The total of 16 places are reserved for non-scholarship holders from Partner Countries. Non-scholarship holders are covering living costs and other related costs at their own expense. The tuition fee at all partner universities is waived for non-scholarship holders.
The total of 20 places are reserved for self-payers from Programme & Partner Countries. Self-payers are covering the tuition fees at all partner universities, living costs and other related costs at their own expense.
Please consider that travel costs from your home country to the Czech Republic shall be fully covered by your resources.
The monthly allowance will be paid only after your physical arrival in the Czech Republic and after you open a Czech bank account.
