MBA students at the Desautels Faculty of Management have access to a wide variety of funding options, including merit-based scholarships and awards. All students are automatically considered for awards unless otherwise noted. Unless indicated, all awards are granted by the MBA Scholarships Committee. We are continually raising scholarship funds; please continue to check back regularly.
Entrance awards and fellowships for Quebec students:
Cesvet Family MBA Fellowship
Established in 2015 by Bertrand Cesvet, BA 1986, MBA 1988, in honor of his parents, to support outstanding students entering the MBA Program in the Desautels Faculty of Management. Awarded by the Master’s Program Office of the Desautels Faculty of Management on the basis of academic merit and demonstrated creative abilities. First preference will be given to students from Quebec and France, and second preference will be given to students from member countries of the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie.

Laurentian Bank MBA Leadership Award
Established in 2011 by Laurentian Bank of Canada, to support outstanding MBA students who demonstrate strong leadership qualities in the Desautels Faculty of Management. Awarded to the full-time students by the Master’s Program Office of the Desautels Faculty of Management with a preference to students from the province of Quebec.
Value: $4,000 each; renewable for up to two years provided the holder maintains an academic standing satisfactory to the Master’s Programs Office
Edward Ballon Award in Management
Established in 1998 by the John Dobson Foundation in honour of Edward M. Ballon, B.A. 1947, a distinguished graduate who, while a student at McGill, was captain of the McGill Track Team, President of the Students’ Society of McGill and President of the Students Athletics Council. He later became President of the McGill Graduate Society and a member of the Board of Governors of the University. Awarded by the Desautels Faculty of Management Scholarships Committee to a full-time student entering the MBA program on the basis of high academic standing, demonstrated leadership skills through involvement in extra-curricular activities and participation in a competitive sport. Candidates must be Canadian citizens.

Dr. Peter Briant Award for Entrepreneurship
Established by Seymour Schulich in memory of Professor Peter Briant, a teacher and mentor to many in the Desautels Faculty of Management. Awarded to Canadian students in the first year of the full-time MBA program by the Desautels Faculty of Management. This award will be granted on the basis of entrepreneurial experience, potential and general scholastic ability. Candidates must submit an application, a statement providing evidence of entrepreneurial potential, a curriculum vitae and financial form.

Marcel A. Desautels MBA Fellowships
Established in 2011 by Marcel A. Desautels, CM, LLD ’07, to support outstanding students entering the MBA Program. Awarded by the Master’s Program Office of the Desautels Faculty of Management to outstanding Canadian students on the basis of academic merit and leadership qualities.

Executive Development Institute Bursary
Awarded on the basis of work experience and financial need to Canadian students entering the second year of the full-time MBA program from the part-time MBA program. Awarded by the Desautels Faculty of Management Scholarships Committee upon recommendation by the Student Aid Office. Candidates must submit a curriculum vitae and a financial aid form.

J. Keith Drysdale MBA Fellowship
Established in 2004 by Donna Drysdale, B. Ed. 1959, in honour of her beloved late husband, J. Keith Drysdale, B.Sc. 1960, M.B.A. 1966, and his esteemed career in logistics and materials management. Awarded by the Master’s Program Office of the Desautels Faculty of Management to outstanding students entering or enrolled in the MBA Program on the basis of academic merit and demonstrated leadership skills. Preference will be given to a Canadian student.

Established in 2009 by Linda H. Goldberger, BSW ’78, and Robert J. Goldberger, MBA ’82, in order to support students entering the MBA Program. Awarded by the Master’s Program Office of the Desautels Faculty of Management to outstanding Canadian MBA students on the basis of academic merit.

Samer Bekai-Saab MBA Entrance Fellowship
Established in 2015 by Samer Bekai-Saab, BEng 1993, MBA 1996, to support outstanding students entering the MBA Program at the Desautels Faculty of Management. Established in 2013 by Tullio Cedrashi, MBA ’68, for his long-time support and contributions to the MBA Program at the Desautels Faculty of Management at McGill. Philippe and Nan-B de Gaspe Beaubien Citizenship Prize
The Philippe & Nan-b de Gaspe Beaubien Citizenship Prize was established in 2011 with a gift from Heather Munroe-Blum and Leonard Solomon-Blum. The prize is awarded annually to an outstanding student who, while enrolled at the Desautels Faculty of Management, has contributed significantly toward corporate social responsibility initiatives, and/or made direct contributions to society through public service and voluntary endeavours, and/or advanced equity and diversity within the Desautels Faculty, McGill University, or other organizations. All students are eligible for the award, which has a total value of $1,000.
Robert Dorrance and Gail Drummond MBA Leadership Award
Established in 2014 by Robert Dorrance, MBA 1977 and Gail Drummond BA 1977, to support outstanding students entering in the MBA Program at the Desautels Faculty of Management. Established in 2014 by Mahesh Sharma, Dip Eng 1968, MEng 1972, Dip Man 1974, MBA 1976, in loving memory of his children, Sandhya and Swati, those lives, along with their mother, Uma, were tragically cut short in the bombing of Air India Flight 182. The Sandhya and Swati Sharma MBA Leadership Award was established to support outstanding students entering the MBA Program in the Desautels Faculty of Management.
