The Australian National University Sydney Speaks Master’s Thesis Scholarship Award

Overview

School of Literature, Languages and Linguistics in the ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences may offer an award known as the Sydney Speaks Master’s Thesis Award to support students while they undertake a Master’s (Advanced) thesis in Linguistics at the University.

The objective of the award is to offer a stipend to a Masters student who is writing a thesis on variation and change in Australian English that will contribute to the Sydney Speaks project. Eligibility

The award will be available each year to a prospective student who is:

  • a domestic or international student
  • enrolled/enrolling in the Masters of General and Applied Linguistics (Advanced) program in the School of Literature, Languages and Linguistics
  • enrolled or approved to enrol in a relevant Linguistics thesis course in the School of Literature, Languages and Linguistics, namely THES8102
  • interested in researching variation and change in Australian English that will contribute to the Sydney Speaks project

Benefits

This scholarship offers a one off payment of $4,000 paid at the beginning of the semester/session in which you commence your supervised thesis course.

The recipient is responsible for making payment of tutiion fees by the prescribed date as set out by the University eash session. Recipients of this award are responsible for the cost of books, study materials, accommodation and all other costs of study.

Applications are open from 1 July – 1 September for commencement in semester 1 the following year, and from 1 March – 30 April for commencement in semester 2.
