HUAYU ENRICHMENT SCHOLARSHIP

The 2020 scholarship application is now open! We will be accepting applications starting February 1, 2020.
The deadline to apply is March 31, 2020 (postmark date).

The Ministry of Education’s Huayu Enrichment Scholarships support international students to pursue Huayu (Mandarin Chinese) language courses in Taiwan. Recipients will receive a 25,000 New Taiwan Dollar (NTD) monthly stipend for each month of their scholarship award period. Students can apply for the following award periods, corresponding to their planned duration of study in Taiwan:

  • 2 months (for summer courses during summer 2020)
  • 3 months
  • 6 months
  • 9 months

Most Mandarin Language Centers in Taiwan offer intensive 2 month summer courses. Students who wish to undertake these courses during Summer 2020 can apply for a 2 month HES scholarship. 

Students who wish to undertake courses during the academic year between Sep 1, 2020 and Aug 31, 2021 should apply for a 3 month, 6 month, or 9 month scholarship corresponding to the duration of your planned course of study in Taiwan.

The HES scholarship is intended for students who wish to pursue short term language courses. Students who are interested in pursuing a degree (bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral) in Taiwan.

  2. I have been trying to apply to the HES scholarship but for me has been very complicated. My name is Marlyn Schiffman Membreño. I am from Nicaragua. I want to study Mandarin Chinese in Taiwan. First , I wanted to apply at the Taiwan Embassy in my country , but the responsible of the scholarship told me that they werent offering scholarship to study Mandarin Chinese in Taiwan just to study bachelor degree,master degree or Pchd degree.I already applied to a Chinese Mandarin Center at the Taiwan City University in Beitou at the beggining of March until this moment I havent received the letter admission yet. So I dont know what to do,what suggest me.I will appreciate so much all the information you give me. Sinccerely yours
