Hong Kong Research Grants for PhD Position for International Students at Hong Kong University
Established by the Hong Kong Research Grants Council (RGC), the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS) is aimed to attract the best and brightest students from around the world to pursue doctoral studies at HKUST.

International students around the world can apply for this scholarship.

What will you receive from the scholarship?
- A Fellowship of HK$240,000 (about USD30,000) per year, for 4 years
- A Conference Travel Allowance of HK$10,000 (~USD1,300) per year, for 4 years
- A Research Excellence Award amounting to HK$40,000 in the first year of study

- A Research Excellence Award amounting to HK$40,000 in the first year of study
Before applying, you need to:
- At least one recognized bachelor’s degree;
- Good academic performance
- Having research ability
- Having standard ability in English language
- Having strong leadership skills
What you need to submit: initial application via RGC system, and HKPFS application through online.
